History of I Ching begins where everything that is part of Chinese culture does: roughly between 3000 and 2900 BC with the legendary master Fu Hsi. He is said to be the first emperor of China, a great sage expert in philosophy, medicine and energy. He was responsible for the design and coding of the symbols of the Tao and Tai Ji, of Yin and Yang, and finally the 8 trigrams. The I Ching is nothing but a complex commentary on various combinations of the eight trigrams with themselves, which thus results in 64 qualities of energy, or movements of the nature needed to maintain the cosmic order. The last stage of evolution of this oracle is maybe due to the famous Chinese philosopher Confucius. This famous disciple of Lao Tzu (the founder of Taoism) decided to study, revise and enrich the comments written up to these days to the hexagrams of this book of wisdom (551 BC), describing the hexagrams with concrete situations, using the metaphor of the consultant seen as a ruler struggling with even the most complex events in politics, sociology and strategy. The Book of Changes or I Ching, was finally complete, and capable of dispensing sage advices to all social classes of the kingdom and all situations of micro or macro scale, simply describing how nature was changing at that time of consultancy, and reporting which direction she was taking the course. You can then ask the I Ching how to behave, whether in front of your boyfriend's betrayal, or, being you a state or a corporation leader, if you need to know how to operate a 50000 billion maneuver. As Seneca once said: "The wind is favorable only to those who know which direction is blowing."

The archetypes at the root of the I Ching are the Yin and Yang that form each line of a trigram, the trigrams are then the basic archetypes that actually build the 64 possible combinations of changes in the nature and in the universe. They are eight natural forces and hence eight different ways to proceed and to change in nature. They are Sky, Lake, Fire, Thunder, Wind, Water, Mountain, Earth. The sky is wide and broad-minded, the lake is quiet and calm, the fire crackles and acts constantly moving, the thunder suddenly struck with force and decision, then silent. The wind is rather unstable and constantly changing, the water is dark, deep and conceals its secrets at the sight of man, the mountain is absolutely still, rooted and stable, then the earth is infinite and receptive: it receives the seed, the rain, the sun and everything else in her womb. They are designed as the last stage of the very Taoist cosmology: the universe is therefore the result of the 64 hexagrams present in it. When you are going to ask a reading from this book, therefore, the archetypes Yin, Yang and the eight trigrams are used to build the response: during the launch you’ll going to use and mimic the same techniques that was used by the Tao to construct the universe itself. The response will consist of two hexagrams, which thus represent for us a real world that we are consciously building with our actions in our life, a microcosm that will responsibly insert and interact itself within the wider existing creation, changing its course and adding a spicy ingredient in the current changes in the cosmic Tao.

The method

The method, unlike runes, tarot and astrology, is unique. It only allows the identification of two hexagrams: one for the present situation and another for the future situation. In this way you can understand what changes are going on about the situation that the client has asked, and in case, if action is needed to change its course. This oracle turns out to be perfect to ask advice on certain situations where you do not know how to act; it is not an oracle rather suitable for "understanding the situations in paranormal ways”, or to hiddenly find out what another person is doing. The I Ching is completely focused on the personal responsibility of the consultant and on what action he should take, in complete heart innocence and wisdom of mind, regardless of how others will react, without any profit strategy nor any chance to take advantage of what the I Ching will tell you at the expense of others. Do not expect that the I Ching will tell you cosmic revelations: it is not necessary that you know the whole divine plan that is going on around you (is too complex to comprehend), being in harmony with it will simply just do the work. The Book of Changes is totally focused on what action or change of energy you must take, in your outer life and / or within yourself, in order to turn the events in a responsible way toward a more fluid, convenient and wise energy, therefore compatible and in harmony with the macroscopic consciousness of the Tao.
